Pro'crash'tination

The keys turns, the engine revs, and the car rolls. Escaping a forgotten land of rejection, procrastination, and self pity. Driving towards desperations and debating the effects of venturing onto a new road of opportunity all alone. The tires screech as they graze the never ending rubble that is uneasiness and anxiety. The headlights illuminate all of the glorious adventures that await, passing by the possible and approaching the impossible. The car presses on, up a hill, slowly continuing the difficult route towards success. Light rain begins to fall as the car reaches the top, and the windshield wipers attempt to bring some clarity but the rain becomes more intense. The helpless car, unable to control its surroundings, endures the inevitable tribulations and chaos. The car lurches left and right desperate to find an end to this road that is destined to fail. The car stops on the side of the road, and watches multiple cars continue on their path unaffected by the misplaced car on the curb.

The radio regains signal after the sky clears and the words of the author José N. Harris echo through the speakers, “When you find your path, you must ignore fear. You need to have the courage to risk mistakes. But once you are on that road... run, run, run, and don't stop til you've reached its end.” The car merges into the highway engulfed with distinct vehicles that have other goals to strive for and obstructions to work through. After coming to this realization, the car diverged onto a path of it’s own, a path formed by different avenues and streets that lead to more opportunities. The open window overwhelms the inside of the car with the aroma of hopes and dreams.
I am the one behind the wheel, I have control of my life, and I am the one who perseveres through procrastination towards my dreams. I strive to one day make a difference with the speck on the highway of life that I was given. I have and will continue to build a tolerance to future obstacles. Although, I have to be courageous when I do encounter these obstacles in the way of my success. I accept that it is my responsibility to eliminate my procrastination and follow the my dreams.
